Prologue

This book is divided into two sections.

Section One is written for children. It tells the story of a youngster who struggles with sleep. In Taylor’s story, she has trouble with racing thoughts at bedtime. The moment her head hits the pillow, her mind starts thinking and thinking-she just can’t seem to turn it off.

Section Two is designed for adults who support children struggling to become good sleepers, or who may experience sleep difficulties themselves.

About the Authors

Eileen Sunshine, LCSW-R, CASAC-G, is a licensed clinical social worker and credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselor with over 30 years of experience as a practicing therapist. She has specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia and is dedicated to helping individuals and families on their journey to better sleep and well-being.

Dr. Jessica Zarian is an experienced educator with more than 19 years in the classroom and holds a doctorate in education. Her passion for child development and learning shines through both her storytelling and educational strategies.

Together, Eileen and Jessica create engaging stories and practical materials that help children and families develop healthy sleep habits. Their work bridges child-friendly storytelling with evidence-based guidance for adults, making sleep education accessible and relatable for all ages.
