*Your Screening and Assessments Fee does not include the cost of the required drug test.  You will be provided with a lab slip to take to either Lapcorp or Quest.  Most insurance will cover the cost of this test.

We understand that being arrested for a DUI or DWI can be stressful, confusing, and expensive. You may choose any approved provider from the approved provider list, and we appreciate the opportunity to support you through this process. Our goal is to make you feel comfortable, explain each step clearly, and provide professional screening and assessment services at affordable rates.

In New York State, individuals arrested for an impaired driving offense may be required by the court, the Department of Motor Vehicles, or the Impaired Driver Program to complete a clinical screening and, when indicated, a more comprehensive assessment. The purpose is to determine whether alcohol or substance use may be a concern and whether additional evaluation or treatment recommendations are appropriate.

A screening is a brief clinical review designed to identify whether there may be risk factors related to alcohol or other drug use. Screening tools may include standardized instruments such as the MAST, DAST, or MSSI-SA, along with a clinical interview. The results help determine whether a full assessment is needed.

If the court orders a screening, it is important to schedule it as soon as possible and follow any deadlines provided by the court, your attorney, probation, the DMV, or the Impaired Driver Program. After the screening is completed, the provider will report the required information through the appropriate New York State reporting system when required.

An assessment may be required if the screening indicates additional evaluation is needed, if the court orders it, if it is required by the DMV, or if it is necessary for completion of Impaired Driver Program requirements. The assessment outcome may indicate that no treatment is recommended, or it may recommend treatment or additional services.

An impaired driver assessment is a more detailed clinical evaluation. It may include a clinical interview, review of the individual’s alcohol and substance use history, review of the Abstract of Driving Record, toxicology information when available, and collateral information when appropriate. The assessment helps determine whether a substance use diagnosis is present and whether treatment or education is recommended.

The Impaired Driver System is a secure New York State reporting system used by approved providers, the DMV, and related agencies to document clinical screening, assessment, treatment status, and completion information when required. This helps ensure that required information is submitted efficiently and accurately.

Please bring any paperwork provided by the court, DMV, probation, attorney, or Impaired Driver Program. You should also bring a valid photo ID, any relevant driving record documents if available, and contact information for your attorney or referral source if you would like information shared with them.
